RVs have come a long way, not just stylistically but also in technology and innovation. Modern RV’s tend to have the latest in design and mechanical technology making RVing a time to relax and enjoy your road trips and camping experiences. However there are still some added extras that can improve your roadtripping lifestyle and keep you powered up and connected along the way. Here are the three most common:
WiFi CONNECTIVITY
Let’s face it. The internet rules our lives. No matter who you are or what you do, there’s a better than average chance that the internet plays into your daily life whether it’s through your phone, social media, banking, shopping, or work. While many RV parks are now offering wireless internet connections, they’re not always available so what are you to do when you need to email Great Aunty Flo? Or need to check in with the kids? Or want to reserve your next camping reservation online?
The easiest way is to use your mobile phone and set it up as a ‘mobile hotspot’. Most modern smartphones have this functionality and it allows you to use your phone as an internet connection. We’d only recommend this for limited internet access like browsing and emails. We don’t advise using a mobile hot spot for streaming video like Netflix or YouTube as you’ll get a nasty surprise on your next cell phone bill.
There are also some great products that will give you access no matter where you are. The Wi- Fi Ranger provides mobile internet solutions specifically designed for RVs. Or, for a cheaper option, you can use a WiFi booster that will increase the signal strength for receiving WiFi signals and give you a better connection.
SOLAR POWER
Power is generally never a problem, particularly if you you’re sticking to RV parks. But what if you’re looking to venture into more isolated places? Plug sockets may not be as readily available and using a squirrel as a power source is a terrible idea. Solar panels used to be thick, heavy, and generally not very fun to haul around. But new technology has new lightweight panels that can be fixed to the roof of your RV with ease and are extremely durable and efficient.

CELL PHONE SIGNAL
Hello? Can you hear me now? How about now? I’m on top of a mountain, you keep cutting out! Cell phone signal coverage will likely never be available everywhere. Mainly because there’s just no point in having a cell tower in a heavily forested area. There aren’t many bears that need to make a long distance phone call. However, if you have to be RVing in the middle of nowhere, then a cell signal may come in handy to stay in touch with family and friends, or to call in case of emergency. Using a cellular booster will pick up cell signals more effectively and enable you to make a call even in the most desolate wilderness.
