5 Helpful Hints for Trading Your RV.

20 November 2015

Eventually you’re going to outgrow your RV or maybe you’ll just want to upgrade your current model because the time is right. Either way, the sales team at Mike Rosman RV is happy to help you when the time comes. Here are five helpful hints for you to bear in mind when trading in your RV:

1. Tax savings – When trading in a RV you will only be paying tax on the difference owing, not the full price of the new RV. The tax savings can be quite substantial, especially on big ticket items.

2. Used RV’s are in Demand – Dealerships want your trade and will give you market value to earn your business. Avoid the hassle of trying to sell privately.

3. Details – Provide your sales person with as many details as you can regarding your current RV. Include pictures if you’re unable to show it in person, history of use, and how it was stored, etc. Also any additional options from the standard model and things that you have added (solar, slide toppers, power tongue jack, etc).

4. Warranty – You may have purchased an extended warranty with your current RV, talk to the business manager and see what options you have. Many extended warranties will offer credit for time left on existing warranties to be put towards a new one.

5. Accessories and Options – You may have put a new solar panel and two new 6 volt batteries on your RV last year. These items aren’t cheap, so you may want to swap them over to your new RV. Let your salesperson know that you plan to keep these items so they can appraise the tradein properly. If you’re towing a trailer, have your salesperson check your existing equalizer hitch to make sure it’s rated properly to work with the new one. Nobody likes surprises when it comes to last minute additional expenses.
