12 July 2018

Images of sun-soaked beaches are a natural part of a Canadian Summer. Particularly on the West Coast of Canada where the summers tend to be long and hot with average temperatures reaching over 32 degrees. As such, beach destinations, whether on the coast or at a lake, are a favourite among RVers. Here we list 5 of the Best Beach Destinations in Western Canada. Grab your sunscreen and your unicorn-shaped floatie and let’s dive in . . .

1) Haynes Point, Osoyoos

Located just outside of Osoyoos, close to the US/Canada border, this beautiful location is picturesque and family-friendly. The lake is warm during the summer and offers a variety of fun water sport options including rentals and boat launches. Be sure to book your campsite early, this one fills up fast.

2) Cultus Lake, Chilliwack

A favourite of RVers thanks to the large and numerous campsites, Cultus Lake offers a number of beaches to choose from. A clear family favourite, Cultus Lake Park offers everything from water toy rentals, to a waterslide park, golfing, cafes, restaurants, and more. Long weekends tend to be a little crowded, but the wide range of amenities make up for it.

3) Chesterman Beach, Tofino

This 2.7 kilometre stretch of beach is one of the most popular in Tofino, and a favourite among surfers. Low tide allows for the exploration of tide pools where you can find star fish and other marine life. If you’re looking to catch your first wave, the Tofino Surf School teaches lessons off this beach. Or if you’re looking for something more calm and less damp, you can visit the Carving Shed at Wickaninnish Inn and watch the talented wood carvers at work.

Nearby Campground – Bella Pacifica Campground

4) Mabel Lake, Enderby/Lumby

Located adjacent to both Enderby and Lumby, Mabel Lake offers a stunning array of beaches upon which to soak up the sun. The campground has a variety of options and hook ups for RVers and campers, and even features a nearby air park allowing access to the campground and amenities by small aircraft.
