With 2020 finally in our rear view, and not a moment too soon, we can finally look ahead and start visualizing hitting the open road in 2021.
Like with most things, different years mean different trends, and RVing is much the same. 2021 appears to veer in other directions, depending on what you want in your RV.
For those that still want the comforts of home, the design and layout of RVs is changing to create unique floor plans more akin to what you’d find in a stationary living space.
The typical layout of RVs is evolving, with more open floor plans showing up to create the illusion of more space while still offering the storage capacity you need. For example, who would have thought you could fit an island in your RV kitchen? It not only creates more counter space, but offers necessary storage compartments.
Technology is also improving in the RV world, with many people working remotely now, they want to be able to continue and work even more remotely if possible. Better quality power outlets, app-controlled climate control, and energy saving options are becoming more commonplace.
The visual of the behemoth motorhome is one that runs rampant in film and television, but on the flipside, many people are actually downsizing their RV to smaller trailers that have fewer bells and whistles.
Perhaps it’s the need to truly disconnect, but things are trending toward smaller teardrop trailers, utilitarian models, and even the campervan. These smaller trailers offer different towing options – you don’t need a giant pickup truck to pull them – which makes them an attractive choice for folks with a small vehicle.
Smaller units can also go more places. For those that really want to get off the beaten path, a small trailer or camper van can go where a large fifth wheel cannot. Why stay in a campground surrounded by people when you can drive to a gorgeous vista and have your own little oasis while getting back to nature?
